Terms of Use for

Siemens MindLab (“SML”)

Access from the Siemens Intranet

  1. The platform and its contents may only be used for business purposes related to Siemens AG and/or its affiliated companies who are connected to SML (together: “Siemens Companies”). Do not use SML for private issues.
  2. Content like text, photos, logos, images, videos or other content are likely to be copyright-protected or protected by other intellectual property rights. Before uploading any content, you must ensure that you have the right to upload the content and share it on the SML platform for use within the Siemens Companies. Photos, videos or voices of third parties may only be published if you have previously obtained the consent of the affected person.
  3. As other Siemens internal platforms, the SML does not intend to replace the process to secure innovations for Siemens AG by submitting invention disclosures https://siemens.sharepoint.com/teams/legal-compliance/intellectual_property/SitePages/de/smart_inventor.aspx or by taking part in the 3i program of Siemens AG (https://siemens.sharepoint.com/teams/3i/SitePages/en/Home.aspx ), nor any corresponding processes that are in place at other Siemens Companies. Patentable ideas must be submitted via invention disclosure forms while other ideas may be submitted as suggestions to the 3i Office. Any idea or other information that is made known to Siemens AG in the course of your use of the SML may additionally be subject to local regulations e.g. on inventions, intellectual property rights, and copyrights (e.g. via the Company Rules and Regulations in Germany - Arbeitsordnung), and/or to contractual obligations of employees vis-à-vis Siemens AG or an Affiliate.
  4. The Offering may include open-source software components. The respective open-source license terms shall apply and take precedence in case of conflict.
  5. The SML is designed to protect your ideas. However, please take a minute to think about their classification in accordance with the common rules on information security, in particular, but not limited to the Cybersecurity Card “Protection of Sensitive Data” which can be accessed via https://sfera.siemens.com/#/cards. Any Strictly Confidential information must not be stored in SML. The content of the SML is classified “Restricted” (ACP-Level 2). In the exceptional case of highly valuable ideas that are to be rated as “Confidential”, these may be entered in SML, too – however, please try to not disclose any critical information in this case and contact your local business manager when in doubt.
  6. Export control relevant documents must not be published on the SML. The provision/upload of product/software design, development, manufacturing or use type information may constitute an export or disclosure of a controlled technology and may be subject to licensing requirements and prohibitions. Therefore, the provision/upload of product/software design, development, manufacturing or use type information is not permitted. When in doubt, please contact your export control business partner.
  7. When using any content that is available on the SML, please always make sure that you have sufficient rights or license form the respective right holder(s). The contents may only be used for business purposes and business tasks within Siemens Companies. If contents need to be used and made available to persons outside this scope, you must obtain the necessary approvals based on the corresponding processes before using the contents. Unless specifically asked, you are not allowed to edit or change the platform contents.
  8. Siemens AG may delete any contents (1) which violate these Terms of Use; (2) which contain inappropriate or unlawful content or proposals which do not comply with export control restrictions; (3) which create a potential risk of infringing intellectual property rights or misappropriating trade secrets or confidential information of third parties; and/or (4) which contain viruses, worms, corrupted files, cracks or other materials that are intended to or may damage or render inoperable software, hardware or security measures of Siemens AG and/or any other third party. You may report abuse of the SML by sending a private message to the administrators at innovation.ft@siemens.com.
  9. You may unregister from the SML at any time by sending a private message to the administrators innovation.ft@siemens.com. Termination of the participation shall not affect any rights or obligation incurred prior to the date of termination. Content entered by users who choose to unregister will not be deleted, but usually not be associated with their name anymore.
  10. Siemens AG reserves the right to modify these Terms of Use at any time. Siemens AG furthermore reserves the right to exclude at any time a participant who is not willing to abide by these Terms of Use.
  11. All country-specific laws and provisions need to be considered. Hence, please make sure you understand and apply those rules when using SML.
